UPDATE: Nevermind, it's actually just as I thought. For accessibility. For windows it's Left Alt-Left Shift-Print Screen. I had a gut feeling I discovered nothing LOL
Ok, I have no idea if this is a standard feature that I'm too stupid to know about or an easter egg. I was watching Top Gear with Brennan and was mashing the keyboard on my Macbook. Suddenly, the entire screen became...inverted, negatived ... or as Brennan named it - Solarized.
Click the following:
CTRL + ALT + COMMAND + 8
So the bottom 3 keys and the number 8. To go back to normal, hit the same key combination. I'm on a Macbook 2.2GHz running OS X 1.5.2. Btw, this feature is great for people who have certain types of poor vision. It's like the low contrast (or was it called high contrast) theme in windows. It's basically great for people that love black themes and backgrounds.
Enjoy and let me know if it works for you!
Posted by boredottawa at February 22, 2008 12:09 AMYou can also turn it on this way: System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing > Display > White on Black
Even more fun: Hook up a mouse with a scroll wheel and spin the scroll wheel while holding down Ctrl.

Posted by: roy at February 22, 2008 12:24 AMIt works on my ibook, and it's way cool.
Except my desktop image is mostly black, so the effect isn't enjoyable for that. But I love how some things turn chocolate brown and the Apple apple in the top left corner a kind of shade-changing burnt orange. And I don't mean this in a bad way, but your site itself looks sleeker in this scheme.
Hehe. Nice. Glad you like it. Although since most applications have white backgrounds, using this may mess up your eyes if you keep switching back and forth.
Posted by: roy at February 27, 2008 01:50 PMActually it's not too bad if I'm just using Word, like when I'm taking notes in class. i find it's a lot easier on my eyes, they don't get as bleary as with the white - even when I turn the brightness down. I've already got pretty bad eyesight - if it weren't for compressed lenses I'd have those suckers that Bruce McCullough wore on Kids In The Hall as Kevin - that froggish kind of kid with the backpack.
