This would suck

CBC Ottawa - OC Transpo and union keep talking as deadline looms

I hope they don't strike!

You had to bring this up and get me started. I'm don't rely on transit, but I use it fairly regularly and I know a lot of people that rely on it to get around town.

As far as I'm concerned, transit should be considered an essential service in a city this size.

And IMHO, the numpties at OC transpo don't deserve what they get now, much less a raise. The assclowns can't keep the lines running even close to a schedule - late I can deal with but I'm REALLY getting sick of the buses arriving 5-10 minutes ahead of schedule and just leaving! Besides the Ottawa transit system in general, when compared to other large cities I've been in, blows!

A raise on par with what the police force gets? KMA! The day one of the mouthbreathing, union flag waving bus drivers gets up off of his/her ass and actually does something to help a passenger in trouble instead of just driving on is the day that they deserve a raise like that.

Should they strike, fine! Fire 'em and replace 'em. Right to collective bargaining? Yeah, right. My dear union friends, you have no rights - this is Canada and if the government has half a mind to do something, they'll just do it.

Long story short - stop kissing the union's butt and make transit an essential service. Legislate them back to work and tell them to either work or take a walk down the wharf.

Sorry for the rant - but this kind of thing really gets my blood boiling - that a few overpaid goofs could hold the city hostage and fsck with people's lives just to get a raise they don't deserve - it really bugs me.
