I personally can't wait for the alternative station - I MISS XFM! :-(

I'll never forget when they did the switch to country - I was out East for Xmas and didn't get back 'til January. I was just back to work and leaving for home off the evening shift; I flip on the wireless and hear twangy country sheyt.

So I says to myself, "Self", I says, "they must be doing some sort of fundraising thing on the go.", like the "Frank FM" fundraisers they had in the past (e.g. playing Yanni, Enya, etc. until the fund raising goal is met). Sooooo - I flipped the freq to CHEZ and though nothing of it.

The next afternoon, I'm driving into work and they were still doing the fundraising thing. :-) Then I spoke with a coworker and found out the awful truth - XFM was dead.

I just want my loud, angry music again - it made the workplace enviroment almost...tolerable. [LOL]

The thing is, it may start out like that, but history, in Ottawa, has shown that all radio stations except for the university ones, morph into mainstream crap.

They promise one thing and change into another to appease the advertisers.

I hope they prove me wrong.

I remember the exact moment XFM switched over. At noon one of my co-workers called me over to see what had happened to her web-radio player. It just automatically cut into the country feed. No warning, just bye bye XFM. Not that I really cared since I never lisened to it......
