GETTING A TICKET IN GATINEAU/Quebec IF YOU LIVE IN OTTAWA/Ontario

You do have to pay it. Either police force can check it if they run your plate. Non-moving or moving. It doesn't matter. I'm gonna try to verify all these myths. So far, I believe them to be true. This is coming from a friend that got put in jail for not paying those tickets once they caught him on the Quebec side.

The ticket for having expired stickers on your license plate is $420. Yes, I'm still trying to recover cause that's what I got. No friendly warning. Just a ticket. Why so much?!? Damn. That fine has got to be reduced. Disgusting the way some government departments suck your money.

I need to find out if I go and fight it in a Quebec court, whether or not I have to pay court fees if I lose. I'm banking on the fact that the initial notice they left on my windshield had all fields filled out properly except one:

Date and Time only had the Time!! Although, I don't even know what you properly call this "notice" because the official ticket arrives in the mail.

So yeah, the "notice" was missing the date on which the offence was charged. Gonna try to get off on a technicality. Although, this is gonna take some time because who knows how long it will take the ticket to arrive in the mail.

getting a ticket in quebec doesn't affect your driving status in the rest of canada.

You're correct to some extent genghis. But the next time I come back to Quebec, I could be put in Jail!!
