Pretty soon I will have to deal with one of the things that is sure in this life: taxes. Before living at home my dad has always done it since he just bought sw and would plug in the numbers. Now I think that since I am a "owner of a business" I should be more involved. It would be a good idea anyways to keep a closer track of my money so I can kick myself in the ass if I am wasting it on anything.
But the thing is, I don't really want to deal with taxes. I guess that's me and just everyone else alive. Ah well. I'll probably pick up some sw soon so I can deal with this because it's more complicated than before. :-|

I did my taxes by hand last year. It's really not that hard. Not sure how difficult it is being the owner of a business, or being a consultant for that matter. I really don't care that much for the companies who make the tax software. Some of who have gone through extreme measures like writing to your boot sector (who cares if there is anything important there) in order to stop pirating. I think we need some open source tax software. When it comes down to it, the calculations really aren't all that difficult. Building something like this really shouldn't be that hard.
I recommend that you get an accountant, I know I will. I know it might cost about $50 or $100 but I think that is a money well spent because these people know tricks so you might end up paying less taxes, and actually get your money's worth. Either way, you can claim what you spent on accountant as your business expense for the next year income tax filing.
I'll be going to H&R block again this year. I've gone to them for the last two years in a row and walked away very pleased with their service both times. If you bring everything that you need, it takes about half an hour and it's basically just their guy double-checking figures with you.
I know I probably could do it myself (most of my friends do) but I just hate filling out forms, and tax forms are some of the worst I've ever seen. :)
