Alternated to WSAD
Last summer when I was here at work in a different department, they were moving towards getting everyone a copy of WSAD. Now they have decided to use MyEclipse. I was told that it "does everything that WSAD does", and at 30 $ / seat compared to like 4500 $ / seat, I can understand why they made the change.
WSAD that I have is pretty new, and it is built on Eclipse 2.1. From MyEclipse's website, they support Eclipse 3.0. Pretty cool if you want to be on the cutting edge. I just thought that I'd pass along the interesting news. ;-)

She was fired for revealing the technology used at the company. Friendster is a privately owned company, so what she did was pretty stupid. The public backlash there is just ignorance of business. You don't go around telling your competitors what technology you use, or problems you are having. It's just bad business.
They could have (and should have) given her a warning, but she also should have known better than to blab to the world about her work.
I don't know about government work. Maybe all of the details of technology used in non-sensitive areas (like non-CSIS, non-DND) is public information anyway. Still might want to be careful.
When I work for a publicly-traded company, like when I worked for Rational or Corel, I didn't talk about anything that wasn't already public information. Not only on the 'net but also to other people personally. If you do, not only can you get fired but you can get the company in trouble with places like the Securities and Exchange Commission, which can probably get you sued. Be aware.
I believe all (tech) purchases are public domain.
But either way, I'll try and be more careful.
Thanks for the warnings guys.
