Doraemon is a cartoon based on a comic book, and is one of the longest running TV series in Japan. Started in 1979, there are over 2000 episodes to date. Doraemon is a cat-like robot from the 22nd century. He was sent to the 20th century by the great-great-grandson of Nobita. Nobita is a boy in fourth grade who does so poorly in school and in life that his descendents in the 22nd century are still paying off his debts. His great-great grandson sends Doraemon to him in the past to try and fix his life. Doraemon's favorite food is dorayaki, a sweet bean paste-filled bun. His birthday is September 3, 2112 (12-9-3), he weighs 129.3 kg, is 129.3 cm tall, can leap 129.3 cm in the air and can run 129.3 km per hour. He is also known by the name Ding-dong. He is afraid of mice and hates rats because his ears were eaten off by a robotic rat at the robot factory where he was made. He has a fourth-dimensional pocket on his abdomen from which he can take out many amazing gadgets to help Nobita out of the many crazy situations he gets himself into.
