Another Spin-Off

I just saw Tanya off at the train station. After a month and a half in Shimodate with James, and a week in Yokohama with me, she is off to Nagoya to start training for the job that started all this last summer, on the other side of the planet. In two months, she has suddenly become well-travelled. She is a lot more independent than I would have thought in Canada, but in a much different way than my own hermitessness.
I came to Japan because it was a novel way to solve a problem of having no other choice. Tanya came with me, James was already here, and Japan thus became three times better than I originally imagined however many years ago the whole teaching craze started. Starting out with friends turned a somewhat reluctant decision into an adventure, and a foreign country into home.
But now we're all living seperate lives in Japan - of all places - like it was perfectly natural.
Wow, I can't believe I am on my way to Nagoya in that picture. It seems so long ago. Uh oh, I forgot my suitcase... hehe
