It looks exactly like Dad, but we know it is only an uncanny lookalike. We meet up with them as they get out of the car. Jill seems to introduce us to her date, then leaves. The man tells us that he doesn't see a romantic future with Jill, but he would be happy to be a father to us. It is war time, and the enemy has adapted. A bold new way of thinking must be presented to the entrenched board. A Perry White figure stands up to the stressful task, working day and night to change minds for the good of the nation. After the successful meeting when everybody has left, I sit beside him at the conference table. He is having chest pains and it won't be very much longer before his heart stops. His face has become my father's; I hug him, kiss his face, hold his hand, as we prepare for the worse pain.
