Sarah just called. She had nothing to report about my missing possessions, but said that a police officer had stopped by a few weeks ago asking for me. Since this happened before she learned about my bag, she told me that she thought the police officer might have been an old boyfriend. And with that one line slipped into a two-minute conversation, I wish I did have an old boyfriend who was a police officer, looking me up. I wish I had an exciting past; and I wish I had a confident adult present.
