Mon Mar 22 04 / 4:07 PM Last night at Barrymore's didn't begin well, and it didn't end well. Sam and I arrived early, as always, but there was a line. A long line. A cold line. It got longer and colder as we watched people who were not regulars get bumped to the front. An hour after we started waiting, ten minutes until entry, Sam lost his patience and passion, and he left. He said it was a sign that Barrymore's is no longer the same place we have been revelling for years. When I finally got inside and started drinking cheap shooters, laughing at everything, dancing with Tanya, watching Spaceballs, hanging out with Roy, smiling at the DJ so he would play my requests, being noticed by guys; I knew Sam was wrong. But when Tanya and I went to leave and I discovered my bag had been stolen, with everything I use daily inside it, I felt that Sam was almost right. With lines to get in, an uncooperative coat check girl, a crowd that gets younger, and now thieves; is four hours of having the single best time of my life worth it? I hope you're enjoying my pink cat-patterned pyjamas, you fucker! |
