the interview process

It was a group of new hires working on cash at the bookstore tonight, all bonding because they were all new, the way everyone does. I felt - not out of place - but definitely on the outside. I bond now with the group that bonds because they consider themselves old, seasoned, knowers of all things cash ... but I've been here longer than all of them.

Had the interview tonight for senior cash, the position that if one of them beats me out for it, I will have to quit. Sitting across from Andrew the manager, him all smiles because he's vacuous, me all smiles because otherwise I would have been crying or puking. I hate this job. Why am I interviewing for a job I have twice the experience of anyone else who applied? Why am I still working here? Well, it wouldn't be so bad if it paid more.
