And despite the fact that I made sure he knew, he still acted like it was a date. Or maybe he just hoped. I set him straight deliberately, and we passed the evening as friends. Why do I attract people I find unattractive? What makes a 31-year-old minimum-wage live-at-home computer gamer think that I would want them romantically? I who share all those qualities, but at the acceptable age of 21. These invitations don't boost me, they make me question the height of my place in the world. |
