Mon Nov 19 01 / 7:40 AM Ashley sat at a dinner table this weekend and talked China while the others replied Europe and New Zealand. He felt absolutely amazing to sit at a table and be a part of a conversation that was all about travelling. And he didn't realize until then how much his experience gave him to tell. But instead of filling a conversation, it feels now like my Australia was a conversation. Only been back a month and it is almost forgotten, like nothing sticks in the mind anymore now that we're older and time goes so much faster. But occasionally I am reminded that yes, I was away for four months, on the other side of the world. That I was only very shortly ago in a town called Newcastle in Australia and now I am back in a city called Ottawa like I never left. But I want it to mean more; that's why I say I was gone for four months instead of three and a half. |
