They seem to get shorter as the time remaining here does the same. At first, the idea of bussing Australia was pleasing in its economy but tiresome in its speed. But really, unless perhaps for car, I wouldn't want to see this country any other way. Seeing every mile up close, every gradual change in climate, every wild new animal, has grounded me in every way. A country is so much more than its airport towns; especially Australia, which has more in-betweens than destinations. The plane ride was nothing - Australia is the journey.
