Wed Sep 19 01 / 7:09 AM Here I am in Cairns, half a country away from where I started, still half a world from where it will all end. How naive I was to think I knew the size of my world; I can hardly believe the size of this country. I have driven for days at a time to reach one destination, but it's worth it. There is always news, always new activity, always new sights. My life is like the back of a postcard whose picture is always changing. Dear Mom and Dad, Australia is so great! The weather is beautiful and the scenery is amazing, even after 24 hours on a bus. I haven't seen very many kangaroos in the wild, but there are lots of camels wandering near the outback highway. I passed by the UFO centre of Australia the other day - which is apparently a gas station painted silver and black with glow in the dark aliens hanging off of it. Just arrived in Cairns for a week and am starting scuba school tomorrow. See you soon, wish you were here, love Lisa. |
