here I am

At the very least, I think it's Tuesday. I have passed from Wollongong to Sydney to Canberra to Adelaide since Saturday; moving out of a temporary house and into an impermanent nomadic lifestyle; sleeping on buses, staying in hostels, and wandering the city streets in the empty times between check-out and take-off. I won't say time is meaningless here, but without school or household routine or work or a social life, time means something much different.

Space has changed too. The world is a blue and grey bus seat looking out over hours and hours of land with nothing on it. The soil is red and the highway was red for awhile too - the most martian setting for an earthbound traveller. The road, now grey again, just goes on and on through a countryside doing the same thing. And I am journeying on and through it, looking for adventure, looking for kangaroos.

So far I have come twenty thousand kilometres and had no epiphanies.

(Later on, the highway was yellow.)
