It's a Tonight, Tonight evening. The moon is huge and low and yellow over the Tasman Sea. The beach is almost empty and the boy is perfectly comfortable. The air is warm; and heavy with possibility but not with moisture. We are looking for shooting stars. All we can see are the bright lights from the beach hotel, until he notices movement.

"A satellite."

"Where? Wow."

Never saw them before Australia, and now I've seen five. They look so far, so star-like, but in truth they are the achievements of my peers. Such jealous wonders.

I am seeing so many things that make me happy I came here - but I am not as such happy to be here.
