He and I went to Sydney this weekend, and it was pretty good. I saw the opera house, the aquarium, the gay pride parade street, and the city in general. The more I see the more confident I am that being here is a good idea. I took a lot of pictures, but I'm not in any of them.

The aquarium was beautiful and new for me. Seeing the different fishes and sharks and sea things was a good broadening experience. Watching them move about in schools or pairs or on their own, relentlessly pacing, was weird - such a different world from mine, one I can never have insight into. How alienating, how humbling. I wonder what the fishes see?

Seeing the Sydney opera house was impressive only for its inherent Australian-ness, it's you-have-to-be-in-Oz-to-see-this quality. The architecture seemed dated and we couldn't go inside. It was much more fun to be able to see it than it was to see it.

Next time I want to see the Olympic Park, the botanical gardens, maybe the wax museum, and that will be Sydney. After that, probably Canberra.

I really need a job. I love having them, hate getting them. I'll have to get over that or something, though, because I need a job. For money, for appearances, for self-worth, for future reference.
