the echoes of the past

I was on the bus home from school last night, and it was interesting. Even before I boarded, the half hour Sam spent talking to me in the cold outside the library was interesting. On the bus, I sat in black and watched the same sky go by. Halfway home, Mandy Lavallee and Derek Brown got on together. Remember Mandy, diary? Remember Derek? Remember Renfrew?

Together, Mandy and I and the girls used to hate Derek. But now she and Derek are somehow together. And Derek is sweet and engaging, although maybe he always was. They've both come to Ottawa, but still seek out Renfrew; and I have a list of people to look out for on the bus from now on.

Isn't it interesting how far people go, without really changing? How one can travel miles in space and time and change only in appearance (or not)?

I looked good last night, which was good, but today I had an essay due that of course I didn't do.
