It was probably the best part of the night, even with the pot and the compliments on my homemade cookies (how could I have forgotten them). I read every archive and suddenly felt that my sexual feelings towards her were very inappropriate. Her journal of 20 year old girl poetry showed me that we have some things in common - most importantly that she writes about what she is thinking, not what she is doing. She's in the same unknown place at 20 as I am at 24, though it's not as tragic since she isn't as close to losing her potential as I am. I had been looking at her as a silly convenient person whose sexual escapades and infuriating qualities I laugh about with Sam when they are broken up, but now I respect her because of her journal. She stopped being an object, or she stopped being a temporary presence, and became a person that I wanted to know better.
