Thu Aug 31 00 / 3:24 AM OK, so I know what I was doing this time. last night's dream: I walked across a parking lot towards an office building in the afternoon sun. Two pink Beetles drove by and I yelled out cutie words. When I got into the office building, I went upstairs to the cafeteria floor to meet my friend. He was sitting at a booth when I came in, and his hair was floppy on one side, and his lunch consisted of a bag of chips he didn't even like. His story was that he was watching the Rosie O'Donnell show while he did his hair, so he wasn't paying attention, and likewise grabbed the chips at the same time. Renuka was sitting with this friend at the booth. When I realized that the visage of this friend wasn't someone I actually knew in real life, he quickly turned into my real friend Mek, and conversation continued. The cafeteria didn't have a ceiling, so we could see out to the Parliament buildings next door. The sky was dark by now, and it was cloudy and full of apocalyptic colours. A meteor shower had started, and an aurora had also suddenly appeared. While watching the heavenly acts, a red light suddenly flared up in the sky. The cafeteria crowd oohed and aahed at the fireworks. But soon it became clear that the red light was dangerous, and was approaching quickly. I realized this before anyone else, and glanced at the Parliament buildings to see if anyone there knew what was going on. Standing atop a building that now had a dive tower attached to it was a dark green figure that looked like a nonanimated Green Giant. In a blink, there were identical green figures at each station on the dive tower. They all began to dive towards the street at the same time, yet they all reached bottom at the same moment. The red light was causing the world to be destroyed by throwing off waves of time compression. If we were to be caught in a wave, it would surely be bad. Mek and Renuka and I fled the cafeteria. We ended up in a stairwell wearing winter coats and soaking wet mittens, which we used to more easily slide down the stair rails. The stairwell exited onto an empty street, a street deserted in a mad rush. There were Beetles parked everywhere. It was dark and light at the same time. It was snowing but there was no snow on the ground. The time compression waves were coming, the buildings across the street were rippling. We have to run! The three of us piled into a darkened diner a block away. It was crowded, every seat was taken. But there was no noise, and only minute swaying motions from the diners. They'd been hit by the waves. There was nowhere else to go. Game over. |
