We are all a product of environment and experience and ego. There are no new stories, so I wonder where I got my old ones from. I am shamelessly unoriginal; lament lament.

eccentric catch phrase of the day: my friend Ryan comes up with some seriously odd exclamations in our text conversations. By the very next day I have appropriated the latest and added it to my current vocabulary, although I try to remember to not use it around him. Of course, maybe he gets it from someone else as well. Lately? w00t!

finishing high school early: I was done with high school in 3.5 years instead of the usual 5. High school itself rather disinterested me, but I never would have thought to finish early if I hadn't really been into Christopher Pike novels in grade nine. One of his characters left high school by the January semester of his graduating year, and the next day I was rearranging my schedule. I never did get around to doing most of what I wanted to do with my semester off before university.

glitter: body glitter has become my American Express card this year. Introduced to me by Jen, the one that has gone mystical, a little fairy dust is all I need to perk up in the morning. Subtle during the day, but liberal when nightwalking, tell me it's not cool.

classical music: this is from Ashley, the one that has gone mad. When we wrote instead of spoke, he would also send along mixed tapes, and they never contained Top 40. I still listen to his tapes on the bus; when loud enough the music becomes the soundtrack for A Day In The Life Of. Ashley makes the best mixed tapes because all the music is new to me, and it's all so very different. I detest the sophomoric pretense of weird=cool, but Ashley is weird because he simply thinks it's a very good idea.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: said girl is my hero. I want to be her. I have a ritual in how I watch her TV show. I didn't tune in until season three, and that thrills me. This is because I love her so much that I am ecstatic to have two whole seasons of unwatched Buffyness to look forward to in syndication. James got me into watching it two years ago, and now I peruse magazine racks for Buffy covers and order the related off eBay.

JD&Coke: the official drink of right now. Last year I was into the fruity, but this year it's Jack Daniels and Coke, thanks to the discriminating taste of Renuka. What are friends for, if not to get you drunk on the good stuff? You bring the Jack, I'll bring the Coke, we're gonna rock until this place goes up in smoke ... neighbourhood, wake up the neighbourhood, shake up your neighbours good.

I eat cookie dough because my mom does. I wear pyjamas when I'm not going anywhere because of my dad. I watch anime and Star Trek thanks to my brother. I listen to Smashing Pumpkins by my first boyfriend. I use mousse through my second boyfriend. I make out in parks and airports from my third boyfriend.

...

You know, there are a lot more things that I got from a lot more people, but this is currently enough for synthesis. Only, I can't think of anything right now that is only my own. My person yes, but my person is a sum of borrowed parts it seems.

It's not that I do things only for other people, or attempt to be something that I'm not ... I am perhaps just strikingly unimaginative. Or lazy. Both none one some, I need to create a more elaborate collage. One source is plagiarism, many sources is research.
