Here is a perfect example of the odd fortune in my life:

Today at work for my mid-morning snack I brought in a box of crackers and a container of cream cheese.

I forgot to bring a knife.

The office I am using belongs to some guy who is on vacation, and the only pens in it are ones I have had to borrow from other offices. But in my search for anything remotely knife-like in his desk (I was thinking a letter opener would do the job), I found, in the pen tray, no less than 17 plastic knives. What's even neater is that I just made that number up, but then I went and counted them, and there really are 17.

Sometimes I do something completely stupid like forget the knife, and it's totally my fault. But occasionally, there is a whole drawer full of plastic knives right there, and I get a second chance. I must be careful not to break them.
