Fri Jun 02 00 / 3:35 PM If I suddenly won a very large lottery, and cosmic fortune wasn't thrown for a loop because of it, what would be the very first thing I'd buy? Well that's a no-brainer. I'd buy a new Beetle, in silver, maybe with standard transmission. I haven't decided on the interior. I'd drive down to Renfrew and pick up my mom, who would hopefully be at work at the time (but never again), and we'd go shopping. Clothes, definitely, and probably Ikea too, just because that place is so neat. I'd also get a video camera. I don't have much interest in recording the world around me because I'd never watch the tapes. I already have photo albums that no one ever asks to see. No, I'd videotape myself. This is not vanity, not really. I just have very little conception of what I look like in life. A mirror is essentially static, and photos are still and unlifelike. I suppose most people have the same disperception. I don't know how I look when I dance for any sustained length of time. I want to know what I look like walking across a room. I would love to videotape myself sleeping for a night. I want to see what they see. Idle curiosity? Insecurity? Self-absorption? This isn't multiple choice. |
